05 Jul. GOODWOOD FESTIVAL OF SPEED

TAG Heuer, the world’s top manufacturer of prestigious chronographs and motorsport timer, celebrated 150 years of Mastering Speed this weekend at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. As Official Timing Partner, TAG Heuer introduced a series of innovations to the Festival, including a 100m dash from the start line, which was highly appreciated by both competitors and spectators. To commemorate TAG Heuer’s Mastering Speed milestone, Goodwood created a special Celebration Class of iconic cars representing TAG Heuer’s unique heritage and connection with the sport, entertaining the crowds throughout the weekend on the 1.16 mile Hill Climb Course. To complete the celebrations, TAG Heuer launched the long awaited re-edition of the historic Monza Chronograph at the Festival.

The Festival of Speed was attended by the great and the good of the racing world, along with a host of celebrities. Guests included Jenson Button, Karun Chandhok, Sir Stirling & Lady Moss...

In addition to the celebrations on track, Bonhams offered a fantastic 47-strong single owner collection of Heuer watches at the Bonhams 19th annual Goodwood Festival of Speed Sale, on 1 July 2011. The collection, comprising wristwatches, pocket watches, an assortment of racing timers and sports timers, from the 1960s, 70s and 80s, was particularly appropriate given TAG Heuer’s role as Official Timing Partner to the Festival. Classic Heuer chronographs, such as the famous Monaco, as well the Autavia, Carrera, Montreal and Calculator, also went under the hammer, as did entry level collectors’ pieces, including five different versions of the Jacky Ickx Easy Rider model.
